Student opportunities

Practical experience in our workplace is one of the most valuable experiences a student professional can have. At AECOM, we provide opportunities to put learning into practice, experience our work culture, and gain a better understanding of working life as a professional engineer, architect, planner, scientist, economist or other specialist.

Our work experience programs involve small projects (or smaller components of large ones), so that you have the satisfaction of completing a project as well as receiving credit for your work.

University career fairs

AECOM regularly participates in university and college career fairs and our professionals would love to meet you and share their experiences about working with AECOM. The calendar of events shows which universities we will be attending over the coming year.

Your Development

Creating the best opportunities for our graduates begins with our annual two-day induction program. This fun networking event provides the opportunity to meet other graduates, speak with our senior management and create peer networks that stretch across Australia, New Zealand and Asia.  And that’s just the start.

Sharing information through our Young Professional Development (YPD) program also puts graduates in touch with a massive global resource, which is invaluable for developing an understanding of professional practice from across our region and around the world.

We also ensure your continued career development through technical seminars, internal and external training, site visits and social and educational industry events. If graduates decide to do additional study, we will help examine the options and identify particular fields of specialisation that support your career whatever its direction.  As an added incentive, your involvement in our YPD program is fully endorsed by Engineers Australia and the Institute of Professional Engineers New Zealand, helping you achieve professional accreditation (CPEng). 

AECOM is committed to developing the skills of our people to the highest level. Learning and development opportunities include on-the-job training, internal technical sessions, on-line learning, mentoring, and internal and external courses and events. Social networks

AECOM locations have active social clubs, which offer a wide variety of activities and events for both employees and their families. Activities include themed lunches, theatre evenings, tenpin bowling evenings, quiz nights, wine tastings and much more!
